Participant Testimonials

I must thank the organisers and BIRS for providing such an insightful environment. The scientific program was over the top as one would expect, but on the social level I must say it was even greater.

Renan Assimos Martins Hannover

I was able to form new collaborations and new insights for several problems I am working on. I loved most of the lectures and maybe more importantly the interactions with others during the conference.

I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the organizers and the BIRS-IMAG for organizing this exceptional workshop focused on the field of minimal surfaces, which is closely aligned with my current research. As an early-career researcher, I am truly honored to have the opportunity to present my own research and engage with fellow participants. The workshop's efforts in bringing together researchers working on various aspects of minimal surfaces as well as symmetric spaces and fostering both formal and informal exchanges of mathematical ideas have immensely benefited me. Throughout the workshop, I have had the opportunity of learning from esteemed mathematicians, who graciously shared their perspectives and insights. Moreover, the collaborative environment has fostered meaningful discussions and idea exchanges among fellow young researchers like myself.

I wrote a new paper ``Asymptotic behaviour of the Hitchin metric on the moduli space of Higgs bundles'' (arXiv:2305.17638). It was driven by the preparation of the talk in this workshop.

One of the workshop's main features was the mix of participants, and talks, from the geometric topology community (e.g. symmetric spaces, higher rank Teichmüller theory) and the geometric analysis community (e.g. minimal and CMC surfaces). This has allowed for very interesting interactions between researchers in different fields, but with many common points.

The collaboration between the three groups of mathematicians working on minimal surfaces was a huge success for me. I had useful conversations with people from all groups. I hope that the workshop has benefitted my job prospects; at least it gave me the chance to discuss job possibilities with many different people.
