Operator Systems and their Applications (25w5405)

The Banff International Research Station will host the “Operator systems and their applications” workshop in Banff from February 2 - 7, 2025.

The proposed workshop will bring together emerging and established researchers with expertise in a variety of disciplines, including pure mathematics, mathematical physics, and quantum information theory, to examine and expand the role operator systems play in each of these areas. By bringing together early career and senior researchers from different fields, the workshop provides an important opportunity for ideas to cross disciplinary boundaries, stimulate new scientific collaborations, and support young researchers in developing their own research programs. In addition to communication of new research results, specific interdisciplinary group work with focused research objectives will occur throughout the week. This event marks the first workshop entirely devoted to operator systems and their applications, and, therefore, has the potential to stimulate significant new scientific advances.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and Alberta’s Advanced Education and Technology.
