Description

The Chennai Mathematical Institute will host the "Quantum Gravity and Information Theory" workshop in Chennai, India from November 9 to November 14, 2025.

Quantum information theory is one of the fundamental topics of modern physics, which has attracted lots of exciting research in recent times. Participants, including leading physicists from India and across the globe, will discuss the role of quantum information theory to tackle fundamental questions in Physics, particularly in quantum gravity, about our Universe.

This five day workshop will hold morning and afternoon sessions with ample time for discussions with leading physicists in the field. The workshop will feature an evening public lecture by an internationally renowned physicist, to be attended by members of the local community, high school students and anyone interested in getting an insider's overview of the current state of theoretical physics at the forefront. It will also feature a panel discussion focused on Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in academia.

The Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI) in Chennai, India, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), and Alberta's Advanced Education
