The BIRS workshop was fantastic: it was great to be back having in-person discussions after several years of online-only interaction. The facilities and the location really did encourage connection-building among the participants, and I left the workshop with several potential new collaborations. We hope that our discussions, with many *diverse* viewpoints, about the future of mathematical oncology will be disruptive and encourage better practice in the field!
