This BIRS workshop "Mathematical of Human-Environmental Systems" was an extremely successful meeting. The field of mathematical analysis of Social-Ecological coupled dynamics are a growing field of mathematical sciences, especially in mathematical biology. Unlike established fields of applied mathematics, researchers working on topics within this branch has been separated in different areas of the world. This BIRS workshop provided us an extremely important opportunity to exchange ideas and know the progress of the field.

The workshop was wonderful. Tangible benefits: I heard about research that I am looking forward to incorporating into my classes. Several of us have formed a research group that is meeting regularly and starting a new research project. The group members are all new collaborators for me.

This BIRS workshop had a group of excellent talks on human environmental systems. This will definitely impact my future research. It was great to see so many excellent researchers in mathematical biology. My PhD student who also gave a talk received helpful suggestions and will follow up with some professors for possible postdoc positions.
