Description
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) will host the "$G_2$ Geometry and Related Topics" workshop in Oaxaca, from May 5 to May 10, 2019.
$\mathrm{G}_2$ geometry is an exciting and rapidly developing research area internationally, with links to topics across mathematics and theoretical physics, including geometry, topology, analysis, string theory and M-theory. This workshop aims to address some of the key open problems in the area by bringing together a diverse range of geometry researchers from around the world, with a particular focus on young and early career researchers, so that they may discuss their results and explore novel approaches, as well as strengthen and form new collaborations.
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) in Mexico, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT). The research station in Oaxaca is funded by CONACYT
