Description
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) will host the "Affine Geometric Analysis" workshop from September 20th to September 25th, 2015.
Affine Geometric Analysis is an emerging field combining the affine
geometry of convex bodies with methods from affine differential
geometry (in particular, affine flows), harmonic analysis, and PDEs to
solve questions in analysis. First major results include affine
inequalities that are stronger than their Euclidean counterparts and
the classification of affine valuations and operators. First
applications appear in information theory, probability theory and
stochastic geometry. The aim of the workshop is to bring together
leading mathematicians working in the diverse areas connected to
Affine Geometric Analysis. This includes, in particular, researchers
working on geometric flows, convex geometry, Sobolev spaces and
rearrangement inequalities.
The Casa Matemática Oaxaca (CMO) in Mexico, and the Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) in Banff, are collaborative Canada-US-Mexico ventures that provide an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry.
The research station in Banff is supported by Canada's Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta's Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico's Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT). The research station in Oaxaca is funded by CONACYT.
