Stochastics and Geometry (24w5314)

The Banff International Research Station will host the “Stochastics and Geometry” workshop in Banff from September 8 - 13, 2024.

The workshop will bring together some of the world's top experts and early career mathematicians working at the interface of \emph{Stochastics and Geometry}, broadly understood. Through expository talks and research presentations, the workshop will give a vibrant overview of the most recent developments in the interaction between analysis, geometry and stochastic analysis. The focus of the workshop will be different approaches to random processes in geometric settings, with emphasis on problems on heat kernel analysis on finite- and infinite-dimensional manifolds, often equipped with degenerate geometries, as well as random matrices and non-commutative probability and geometric rough paths. Another objective of the workshop is to identify fundamental open problems in this area that are motivated by mathematical physics and other potential applications. We plan to maintain geographic diversity and invite many promising early career mathematicians.

The Banff International Research Station for Mathematical Innovation and Discovery (BIRS) is a collaborative Canada-US-Mexico venture that provides an environment for creative interaction as well as the exchange of ideas, knowledge, and methods within the Mathematical Sciences, with related disciplines and with industry. The research station is located at The Banff Centre in Alberta and is supported by Canada’s Natural Science and Engineering Research Council (NSERC), the U.S. National Science Foundation (NSF), Alberta’s Advanced Education and Technology, and Mexico’s Consejo Nacional de Ciencia y Tecnología (CONACYT).
