This BIRS workshop was enlightening. The talks, short or long, discussed high potential research areas. The speakers offered perspective and several discussed at length their motivations and their methods with their uncertainties - or avenues for development. Bridging scales? The conference was choreographed to illustrate, at times similar, systems with quite different approaches. The experimentalists offered clear descriptions of physical systems, especially in microstructural coarsening. This, for them, was an unusual venue. For theory and experiment, it is as if each interface holds its own secrets. Origins of nonlocality is another issue: by theory, approximation, or constraint? I am brimming with anticipation for the next event by these scientists.

I came home from this workshop with so many ideas for my project and extending it using multiscale modeling techniques I learned about my listening to the talks, participating in the poster session, and discussing with colleagues during the time spent together.
